Information Visualization is the use of visual representations of complex, abstract data and interactive manipulation of these representations to amplify cognition. Thus, it exploits the outstanding capabilities of humans in terms of visual information exploration. Visual Analytics, however, takes one step forward and integrates these representations with the enormous processing power of computers to form a powerful knowledge discovery environment. In this talk, we will give an introduction to Information Visualization and Visual Analytics with a special focus on Text Visualization and Dynamic Networks.
