Abstract:
Due to increasingly intense competition and challenging economic environment many companies start to concentrate on Business Process Management. To be able to react to changes in a more flexible and quick way processes have to be reorganized or single activities have to be optimized at least. Modelling processes with adequate methods and tools states the basis for their analysis and development. The effective implementation and use of ERP-Systems can generate great process improvements on the technological side. On the organizational side reducing process interfaces is of greater importance. In the line of this thesis a selected process of a pharmaceutical company gets modelled, analysed and systematically developed and optimized. Certain key figures are selected and used to define measurable goals.
A second focus is given on the question, how reference models can be used as basis or template for the development of the own processes. In particular the comparison of different models of the same underlying process shows what difficulties can arise with the use of reference models.
