Abstract:
This master thesis is about a project in which an online catalog containing information about bars, restaurants and clubs is planned, designed and to some extent also implemented. While creating an online catalog is the main effort it will also include the necessary data sources which will also have to be established and maintained. It starts with an in-depth analysis of the requirements of such a system. It continues with a design which is focused on fullfilling the requirements while providing information in the most flexible way. Its ultimate aim is to provide information to a vast array of different systems. The following implementation shows how this task could be accomplished by the booming technology of web services, coupled with the exchange of XML wrapped data streams. Its simplicity, cost
efficiency and independency from software and hardware vendors and cross platform interoperability makes them the technology of choice for the needs of the system.
