Abstract:
The constantly increasing use of electronic data processing and the linking of EDP-systems to network architectures in the professional and private life contain a lot of danger. Two important instruments to obtain a measure of data protection and data security as high as possible are access control both to premises and to data. The present paper investigates different methods of access control and it also tries to throw light on some operating systems and standard software products in this context. The characteristics and the advantages and disadvantages of the respective methods will be treated and afterwards a model for a centralized and systematic allocation of all user access rights within a company is build. After that the allocation of the SAP R/3 user access rights in the company Hella Fahrzeugteile Austria GmbH & Co KG, which is not based on the introduced model, is described.
