Abstract:
Workflow Management Systems support our daily work in all business areas and make it more easy. Our idea to control the whole business processes with one system is getting more important. Cause of this Workflow Management Systems have been examined and the benefits of such systems where shown. Beside different types of Workflow Management Systems the main emphasis was put on SAP/R3 workflow. The theoretical part shows the structure and the features which SAP/R3 Workflow Management Systems offer. The practical part shows the implementation of a standard workflow scenario of SAP at the company Generali Service AG. This scenario includes the leave request, which makes it possible for the employees to record holidays or time events by themselves. The absence which is send by the employee is then going to be accepted or refused by the superior. If the superior refuses the request the employee has to change his absence. If the superior accepts the request the data input is led to the absence database of the SAP/R3 system where this data is valid for the proper payroll.
Beside the gained experience by implementing that Workflow Management Systems it was tried to quantify the benefits for the human resource department. Benefits could be the relief of employees working in the HR department and time savings.
