Abstract:
This paper uses a methodical procedure to do process reengineering and to define an internet based information system for process support. The organisation Children's International Summer Villages (CISV) is taken as a case example. By using the methods for reengineering and developing the information system, they are at the same time tested for their suitability and problems are made transparent. By way of introduction, a comparison of methods helps the reader to get an overall view of the variety of possible procedures. In the first part, the business strategy of CISV is identified. The strategy forms the basis for the definition of processes and the draft of the information system on a business level. The technical details, which make up the final information system, are defined in the last part of this paper.By reengineering the business processes and designing a supporting information system, the organisation should be able to improve its efficiency and make its processes easier, better understandable, faster and more flexible for future changes. Furthermore the internet based information system, developed for CISV Austria, enables the co-ordination and co-operation of a widely spread working force.
